Catches continue to be good for '23 and I always say April /May are the best months for fishing (apart from October of course).
The weather is perfect autumn days at present and no really cool weater. We had two nights that reached down to 8 degrees at the beginning of the week but the days are deightful. Most trout fish taken have been in the 40cm range. A few redfin have been edible size.

Our fishing guests have been very pleased with the season this year with plenty of fish seen and caught. Our record for this season is 47cms (so far!).
It is a pretty good record given that we have welcomed lots of first time fishers this year. It was a fabulous season with loads of fish caught. This year the biggest was 42cm but the fish are very healthy, plentiful and growing well ready for next season.
Come and join the fun and sport in October when the season re-opens. Join in the Guyra TroutFest for added fun and activities. There will be lots for the kids to do too. Lots of people tried our our RV site this year. See our pictures and come and join us. Milani Trout Cottages is COVID safe and you are required to use our QR code on arrival and adhere to all COVID requirements.
We give preference to people who are fully vaccinated for COVID. We are in the midst of a fantastic year. The creek is flowing well and the fish are jumping with happiness. We were lucky to get two stockings last year and the trout are fast gaining legal size. 28cms is the largest for the 20/21 season. We look forward to seeing all keen trout fishers when the new season opens the first weekend of October.
While we have always had a site for self-contained vans we have now upgraded and provide a toilet and shower facility plus one powered site. It is right next to a picturesque part of Laura Creek with plenty of open space for maneuvering. It is also a hot spot for birds and is next to a lovely big fishing hole.
Usually it is available for one van at a time but if you want to come as a group around six vans fit comfortably. Call us to check rates. Laura Creek is running well and Milani looks lovely.
We would like to wish all our friends of Milani a safe and joy-filled Christmas. We look forward to meeting you all again in 2019. Another year has passed so quickly, as we are all fond of saying, and we have had a great year enjoying the company of many interesting old and new friends who have visited us. We do enjoy sharing Milani with others. Now the following may sound like an ad, but we think what we are suggesting is a unique gift for Christmas or anniversaries or birthdays and most of you probably wouldn't even think of it. So this year we thought we would like to offer our regular visitors and newbies something to remember their time with us, or as an introduction to Milani. During November and December we are offering a discount on all of our merchandise plus free postage. We have shown a sample of things above but remember we also have those lovely warm weatherproof vests for the colder months or for one of Milani's unexpected cold nights. Give us a call on 02 6775 5735 and we will give you a quote. Gift Vouchers If you would like to give a family member or a friend a gift they will remember, or something special for an anniversary, why not give a gift voucher? You can choose the date later if you prefer. Call us or email us and we will arrange to send you the voucher in time for gift giving. Special events We cater for special group events with both activities and meals. We can create a customized tour for you, fishing lessons for beginners (with equipment), bird spotting, wild flowering or farm activities (conditions apply for this item), retreats for small groups of artists or photographers or other special interest groups. We would be only too happy to meet your needs.
New to Milani? If you haven't been to Milani yet, give us a call now or go to our booking form and mention this blog. We will give you a discount on bookings made before December 31. We look forward to meeting you. TroutFest is over for another year and the fishing season at Milani has begun well with good fish caught in Laura Creek despite the earlier drought.
Trout caught over the opening weekend ranged from 30cm to 45cms. It was lovely to hear the stories after so much worry that there may not be fish around but they have obviously survived the dry. This year's trout stocking fry should be ready for the next season as conditions are perfect for growing this year with the return of our stormy weather keeping the stream in good order. The start of the season has seen good numbers of fish caught in Laura Creek at Milani (15 and 19 by two fishers on opening day).
Most fish have been around the 35cm mark but they are easy catching and plenty of choice. The one below was caught by a visitor from the Hastings Club during the Guyra TroutFest. |
